Excelsior: Ready to disco
Having worked with Excelsior as a start up business for over five years, we have seen some monumental shifts year on year as the highly talented and forward thinking team adapt to ever changing market needs.
What started as a team of two, has quickly grown to encompass a team of 6 including tutors, trainers, researchers and business development personnel.
As with any team, the need to stay aligned and working to the same goals is vital for growth - an area that Pocket Rocket Group has identified as a key driver for success.
After taking on board the importance of developing the human experience at the recent EVOLVE event, Pocket Rocket created a new workshop - coining it DISCO - a fun take on the DISC profiling methodology, designed to identify and layer individual personality traits over business values to create a strong structure for success.
Never afraid to be early adopters, Excelsior commissioned us to deliver this workshop for the team.
On arrival, with an entirely open mind, the team were asked to 'pick their props' as they stripped away any egos in order to look at the business from a very different point of view -
The format for the day included;
D - Direction of Travel - where the business is now vs where it needs to be
I - Intelligence available - who's on the disco bus and are they on the right seat?
S - Standards for culture - what are the business values - do they align with actions?
C - Cultivating success - A simple strategy, action plan and timeline
O - Outcomes - A clear set of takeaways and priorities to measure against KPI's
The team wholeheartedly embraced the DISCO themed workshop from start to finish, opening up to each other and breaking down barriers, in order to communicate more freely.
Andy Phillips, Development Director at Excelsior says "This one day workshop took us all out of our comfort zone, and brought us together as a team in the most unexpected way! Instead of working individually on our own projects, we can now see and understand the roles of our colleagues and actively seek to be more involved in different areas of the business where we know we can add value. I would highly recommend this workshop to any businesses of any size looking to re-align, re-evaluate and re-activate their workforce."
